Regina M. McDuffie was appointed as the City Manager for the City of Brunswick, Georgia in May 0f 2020. She is the first female City Manager permanently appointed to the position. Regina has more than 30 years of experience in local government operations and management.

Mrs. McDuffie is a native of Macon, GA and worked for the City of Macon for more than 20 years in various capacities including Budget Director and Chief Administrative Officer. While at the city, she served as a direct report to six different Mayoral administrations. In her most recent position, she served as the County Manager for Macon County, Georgia for nearly 8 years. During her tenure in city and county government, she worked on numerous major projects including sales tax negotiation, development of service delivery strategies, building a $40 million hotel, writing and administering various grants and all aspects of budget administration. Throughout her career, Mrs. McDuffie has worked closely with local, state and federal officials, including traveling to Washington, DC to meet with agency heads to promote local government projects.

Mrs. McDuffie has earned many career recognitions including Leadership Macon Class of 1993 and President of Leadership Macon in 1998. She also was recognized as Department Head of the Year for the city of Macon in 2002 in recognition of her management of the Macon Centreplex complex and appointed as the first female Chief Administrative Officer in Macon in 2004. She received a Finance Officer certification from the Georgia Finance Officers’ Association and became a Certified County Official in 2014 with the Association of County Commissioners of Georgia (ACCG) serving on the Lifelong Learning Committee and a participant panelist for the New Commissioners Certification Program. She received an Economic & Leadership Development Certification in 2013 and served as Vice President of the Georgia County Managers and Administrator Association in 2019. Other service included President of the Macon County Kiwanis Club and recognition by the Georgia Women’s Legislative Caucus in 2017, receiving a Servant Leadership Award.

Her community involvement entailed countless volunteer hours including serving as Board Chair for the Booker T. Washington Community Center in Macon, GA for more than 15 years and as a member of the Phoebe Sumter Medical Center Board in Americus, GA from 2014 - 2019.

She holds a bachelor’s degree from Mercer University and has completed coursework in Public Administration at Georgia College and State University and Business Administration at the University of Georgia. She and her husband Firmon, have three children.

Tanet Myers joined the City of Brunswick as the Assistant City Manager in Juy, 2019. She was appointed Interim City Manager in February 2020, becoming the first African American woman to serve in this capacity for the City of Brunswick.

Tanet has a diverse educational background that includes a Bachelor’s degree from Morris Brown College in Marketing and a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Savannah State University.

She has an illustrious three-decade career in municipal government which began in 1994 in the City of Savannah’s Revenue Department under the direction of Revenue Administrator, Prince Johnson and working in the Clerk of Council’s Office during the second mayoral administration of Dr. Otis S. Johnson.

In 2011, Tanet brought her talents to Savannah State University where she continued cultivating her expertise in problem solving and solutions building by working with over 5,000 students daily resolving issues as a departmental liaison for the Office of the President, University Counsel and the Director of Governmental Relations. There she also coordinated legislative engagements with elected officials on the local, state and national levels for the betterment of the university.

Tanet is a native of Savannah, Georgia and now proud member of the City of Brunswick where she resides in the beautiful Golden Isles. She is married to Larry Myers and is the mother of one son, Cameron. Tanet enjoys spending time with her mother, Fredrica and other family members who reside throughout Coastal Georgia, Florida and South Carolina. She is an advocate for individuals coping with developmental disabilities and their caregivers as well as a lifelong member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and the African Methodist Episcopal (A.M.E.) church.

Tanet is passionate about the City of Brunswick and she works tirelessly to encourage her fellow city employees to Build a Better Brunswick by Being Brunswick Strong!
