Stormwater Ordinance Update
Why update the Ordinance?
We have updated the ordinance because we are required to meet new criteria under our Georgia state permit (Permit #GAG610000) for Small Seperate Storm Sewer Systems (MS4). We were required to develop, implement, and enforce a program to address storm water runoff from new deveopment and redevelopment projects that disturb greater than or equal to one acre, including projects less than one acre that are part of a larger common plan of develpment or sale, that discharge into our MS4. Our existing ordinance sufficiently covered littering and dumping, but did not address discharges into the storm drain system.
In addition to putting us into compliance with state regulations this ordinance will also help us to keep the city clean, and safe by reducing pollution into the storm water system. We look forward to working with our citizens, and developers coming into the City of Brunswick to help us meet our goal of making our city a clean and safe place to live.
