Audit Committee
Purpose & Background
The primary function of the Audit Committee is to assist the City Commissioners in fulfilling its oversight responsibilities relating to the City's financial reporting, which includes oversight of:
- The integrity of the City's financial statements
- The City's compliance with legal and regulatory requirements
- The independent auditor's qualifications and independence
- The performance of the City's audit function and independent auditors

Membership Requirements
The Audit Committee is comprised of five members. The Mayor appoints a nominating committee consisting of the Mayor, one City Commissioner, the Finance Director, and Human Resources Director. The requirements to become a member of this committee include:
- Resident of the City of Brunswick, in good community standing.
- Demonstrated management skills.
- Financial, accounting, or governmental knowledge.
