The City Clerk's Office contracts with the  Glynn County Board of Elections to organize and oversees all municipal election activity, including voter registration. Running for Office

The City of Brunswick operates under a Commission-Manager form of government. The Board of City Commissioners is comprised of five (5) Commissioners. Two (2) are elected to represent the South Ward; two (2) are elected to represent the North Ward; and One (1) is elected at-large, serving as the Mayor. Each Commissioner serves four-year terms.

Under the City Charter, candidates interested in running for office must:

  1. Be a resident of the City of Brunswick for at least one year preceding qualification for the upcoming election, of which you must live in the ward you intend to represent for at least 6 months.
  2. Be at least twenty-five (25) years of age.

Timeline

The qualifying period occurs late Summer (August) with the City Election occurring in the first week of November.

Qualifying Fees

The qualifying fee is 3% of the previous year’s annual salary of the office/position the candidate is seeking.
